A local businessman was having trouble filing government forms on time - to the tune of about $10,000.00 in penalties and interest over the last few years. I went over everything, got him up to date and on time. No more penalties!!!

Set up an automatic withdrawal from your bank account every payday, even it's only a small amount. Do it this way and you will not notice it. Put it into a tax free savings account up to $5000 per year and save the tax. Or, put it into an RRSP to increase your tax refund, giving you more to invest. There are many, many choices about where to invest and I will leave that expertise up to an investment councillor. All I'm saying is, get started now. It doesn't have to be painful. You can still budget for things you want to do and have now. Just make sure you pay yourself first!
